Happy Sun Dogs

This is my oldest doggie Guera. She is a sweetheart and in this picture she's enjoying the sun from indoors! She likes to sit on top of the chair and look outside while sun bathing. Her favorite thing to do is watch the birds and people from the top of her chair and woofle at them if need be.

There are also cherry blossoms blooming outside! Super pretty. The birds love them and they smell very nice. I like the flowers more than the cherry plums that they actually produce hahaha. Wish they would last longer rather than fall off and start raining petals everywhere.

On an unrelated note, I took my little Pekingese doggie to the vet today because she had a bad cough :( She seems better now with a little bit of medicine. She enjoyed the end of the afternoon sunshine to the fullest after being stuck in the vet clinic all day.

Bird Couples

Today began rather wet and rainy, but ended with a touch of sun. Lately I've been seeing all the usual sparrows, the Golden-Crowns and the House, but today I saw the finches again. The spots of color in the trees brighten my day. The male's song is also lovely, and it's fun to watch him. I just hope the House Sparrows don't overwhelm him. I'm still waiting for Goldfinches to come back! Where are they? Anyway. Here's the pair of House Finches:
It's just so cute to see them together. I hope they build a nest nearby so I can see the little babies soon! On the other side of the house, there are a pair of crows building a nest in a pine tree. I like seeing all the bird couples working together this time of year :) It's so cool to see them flying by with fresh cut lawn grasses and small sticks and taking them to their nest in progress. Interesting to have new resident crows in the yard.
I hope to see crow babies this year too! Is it just me that has never seen a baby crow ever? Seems really weird since crows are all over the place! Ah well. Soon. I'm tempted to put more bird houses or owl boxes in our yard, but there are already two unoccupied ones. Maybe not unoccupied for long since I saw a pair of chickadees checking out the new bird house! Please live in there little chickadees!

Sparrows and Chickadees

Today I went to my back yard to see what birds were out and about this sunny afternoon in South Seattle. I creeped around while my neighbors stared at me confused and stalked many a tiny bird.

I saw this handsome manly House Sparrow I named Noodles who glared at me when I called him that.

I also saw adorable puffball Black Capped Chickadees preening and playing in a plum tree.

And I saw what I believe is likely to be a Chestnut Backed Chickadee in a different tree. Notice the brown back/side? Neat-o!

My bird stalking afternoon ended with watching what appears to be a juvenile or immature House sparrow taking a nap in a tree branch low to the ground while he or she sunbathes :) How cute.

House Finch

Hi!

This will be my blog where I post pictures I take of birds being birds. It will be especially awesome because it's the beginning of spring! As a first post have a picture I took yesterday of an adorable male House Finch.
This was one elusive little guy. He was being so noisy at the top of my cherry plum tree singing and eating blossoms. What a pretty red color though.
